Good Cyber hygiene practices to stay safe online

I&M Banking

  • Do NOT share One Time Passwords (OTP)
  • Do NOT share Transaction PINs (TPIN)
  • Do NOT click on links from unsolicited emails or SMSs
  • Secure your mobile phones and computers/laptops with PIN, Biometrics (fingerprint & facial ID).
  • Secure your email addresses with 2 step authentication.

General Advice:

Set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA):

This is a security process that requires users to provide two or more verification factors to gain access to a resource, such as an application, online account, or VPN. It enhances security by combining something you know (like a password), something you have (like a smartphone or security token), and something you are (like a fingerprint or facial recognition).

Review the devices connected to your email:

You can view devices such as computers, phones, TVs and other smart devices with access to your account where you are or were previously signed in to your email.

Implement a password Manager:

A password manager is like a combined security guard and butler who tags along as you surf the web, safely carrying your passwords like a ring of keys. It frees you from keeping a confusing notebook of passwords in a drawer, or a messy sticky note with all of your most important passwords stuck on your computer.

Software Updates:

One of the easiest ways to boost your cybersecurity is to always keep software and apps updated. This can be achieved by having Automatic updates set on. Download updates and applications from the official app stores: Google Play Store for Android, Apple App Store for iOS, and Microsoft Store for Windows.
