Our Board Of Directors includes 9 members with diverse experience in various fields including law, banking and management.

Chairman
Mr. Fowler joined the board in August 2015. He is a qualified Kenyan Advocate, an English Solicitor and a Senior Partner at Kaplan & Stratton Advocates. His work encompasses commercial work, particularly financial, corporate and taxation matters and has been extensively involved in project finance, capital markets, banking and foreign investments sectors. He holds an LLB from University of Bristol and was admitted to the Kenyan High Court in 1979. He sits on the boards of several companies.

Mr SBR Shah, is the founder of I&M Bank Ltd, has vast experience in the industry and is well respected in the business community. On 12th December 2002 he wasbestowed the honour of a Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear by the former President of Kenya, Hon. Daniel Arap Moi. He sits on the Board of several companies.

Mr. Sarit S Raja Shah has been the Executive Director of I&M Bank since 1993. He holds a Masters degree in Internal Audit and Management from City University London. He also serves on the boards of several companies including I&M Holdings Limited, subsidiaries and associates such as: I&M Bank (T) LIMITED and GA Insurance Limited.

Mr. Sachit Shah joined the board in July 2015. He holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Banking and Finance from City University London. He is the Executive Director of GA Insurance Limited. He has had the opportunity to work with AMP Asset Management in London and HSBC Bank PLC, London.

Mr. Gul joined I&M Bank Kenya as the Chief Executive Officer and Board member in January 2023. He has over 20 years of international financial services experience, mostly with HSBC, having worked in Europe, North America, Asia, Middle East & Africa - 9 countries in total. Mr. Gul is recognised as a leader in both Banking and Fintech, with a proven track record of delivering high growth, transformation and financial inclusion.

Mr M Soundrarajan, CEO of Delta Corp East Africa Ltd, joined the board in 2009. He made a name for himself in the banking industry having served in different positions in banks both in Kenya and India. Before joining Delta Corp East Africa, he was the managing Director of CFC Financial Services Ltd and also Managing Director of CFC Bank.

Dr Nyambura Koigi joined the board in October 2015 as a Non-Executive, Independent Director. She holds a Doctorate of Business Administration from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, a BA and an MBA both from the University of Nairobi. Dr Nyambura is a fellow of both the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya and the Kenya Institute of Management. Furthermore, she has extensive training and experience in leadership, project management, product development, ICT and Microfinance. She has worked in various capacities in the financial sector including banking, business development and information communication technology. Prior to joining the board, she was the Managing Director of Postbank from 2005 to 2015.

Mr. Dodd has a wealth of experience having served the banking industry in various executive capacities both here in Kenya, as well as Asia and the Middle East. The first 28 years of his career were spent with Standard Chartered Group, latterly in East Africa where he rose to the position of Executive Director responsible for Corporate and Service Quality. In 2006 he joined NIC Bank Kenya Ltd, which subsequently became to be known as NCBA, where he held the positions of Executive Director responsible for Corporate, Asset Finance, including Leasing, and Bancassurance until end of 2020. Following 43 years in the Banking industry Mr. Dodd was appointed as Independent Non- Executive Director of I&M Bank Limited on 24th February 2021, where he will bring his significant knowledge and experience of the financial sector, governance protocols, risk management disciplines as well as customer service to the benefit of the bank. Mr. Dodd has also recently been appointed Non-Executive Director of GA Insurance Limited with effect from 10th February, 2021. He was educated in United Kingdom where he obtained an Honours degree in Economics from Portsmouth University, and presently is a member of The London Institute of Banking and Finance.

Mr Maximilian Biswanger joined the Board in June 2021 as a representative of CDC Group Plc. He is an Investment Director at CDC’s Financial Services Group, Equity and leads the group’s equity investment activities in Digital Financial Services. He is also is a member of the Board of Directors at M-Kopa, Africa’s leading connected asset financing company, and acts as Board Observer for Indifi, a digitally-enabled MSME lender in India. Prior to joining CDC, he worked in Mergers & Acquisitions at Rothschild & Co. He holds a degree in International Business Science from the European School of Business, Germany and Universidad Pontificia Comillas - ICADE, Spain and an MLitt in Peace & Conflict Studies/International Relations from the University of St Andrews, UK. He has a wealth of experience in private equity/development finance investments in financial services companies across Africa and South Asia.

Mr. Hira, Director at Bowman and former partner of Deloitte East Africa, joined the board in February 2019. He holds a BSc Joint Honours in Accountancy and Process Engineering from University of Salford, England. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Kenya and also registered with similar institutes in Uganda and Tanzania He headed the tax practice for Deloitte in the East Africa region and in addition was the Technology, Media and Telecom industry leader. He has specialised in taxation since 1987 in various jurisdictions around the world including the UK and East Africa. He sits on the Advisory board of Eastern Africa Association.

Mr. Wambugu, Management Consultant and founder of Sirius Consult, Joined the board in February 2019. He holds an Honors degree in Commerce, majoring in Management Information Systems from the University of Manitoba, Canada, and a Masters Certificate in Project Management from the University of California-Berkeley, USA. He is a certified member of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and also an ICF certified Executive and Systemic Team Coach. He sits on the board of several other organisations and institutions.
