Home player bags I&M Bank Corporate Golf at Karen

Nairobi, 3 December 2022… Lush fairways, true greens and good weather at the I&M Bank Corporate Golf Day at Karen Country Club contributed to the high scoring bonanza on Friday, 2 December.  The competition was stiff from a field of 220 golfers, as corporate golf makes a much-needed comeback post pandemic.

Overall winner, Alex Kiome playing off handicap 17, took full advantage of local knowledge to sign for 46 stableford points, 7-over gross to win by three shots from the Men’s winner, Muthaiga’s Francis Chege (21 handicap) on 43 points.  Collins Were was a shot behind on 42 points, as Kiran Patel and Hiran Joshi took third and fourth prizes on countback 40 points respectively.

The lady winner, Salma Mazrui-Watt also a Karen member, was the lady winner on 39 points, playing off 19 handicap.  Two shots back was Lady runner up, Renuka Shah  (42 handicap) with Akinyi Gitonga,(13 handicap) taking both Lady Third and Longest Drive Lady prizes.

The Staff prize went to I&M Bank’s CEO, Kihara Maina on 43 points, matching the second best score of the day.  I&M’s Karen Branch manager, Joe Wainaina handicap 7, had a good day winning Nearest the Pin on Hole no 5 and bagging two 2-clubs, in the bank’s traditional complimentary Titliest ballpool.

The Longest Drive for Men on Hole 13 was won by Pravin Varsani.  Nearest the Pin lady winner was Wangari Kamau.
