2015 FIM Africa Enduro/Cross Country of African Nations To Happen in Kenya

Nairobi, 17th, June 2015: The 2015 Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) Africa Enduro/Cross Country series of African Nations is set to take place in Timau on 20th of June.

The off-road motorbike event for opened for dirt bikes and quad bikes, will attract over 60 riders from Kenya, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe among other African countries.

I&M Bank Ltd has partnered with East African Motorsports Club (EAMSC), Kenya Motor Sport Federation (KMSF), FIM Africa among other sponsors to bring the 2015 series to the Kisima Ranch in Timau.

The series will be run on a 45km circuit with a 4km stage where riders are expected to cover 5 laps in approximately 250km in the fastest time. There will be two spectator stages at the location.

Renowned riders like Vincent Crosbie and Ted Barbier will participate in this year’s series as part of the preparations to participate in the Dakar rally set to take place later in the year.

Kenya has been recognized as a good host for the Enduro series and will host the event for a third time. Kenya hosted the same event back in 2011 and in 2009.

“If past events are any measure, then I am sure that once again Kenya will host an event worthy of Continental Championship status,” noted Ray Wilson, President, FIM Africa

Commenting on the sponsorship, I&M Bank CEO, Mr. Arun Mathur noted, “This event, while building the country’s diverse sports disciplines gives the Bank visibility and also places us on the African map as a financial institution that is promoting the regional motorsport tourism.’

“I believe that this event will help nurture and grow talent in the motorsports industry as well as position Kenya as a sports destination in the region’s motorsport tourism industry,” he added

I&M Bank Ltd is committed to supporting Kenyan diverse sports industry as sports tourism has become a key contributor to socio-economic development of Kenya, and the region with athletes visiting from countries in Africa, Europe, Asia, the US and other parts of the world to train or conduct philanthropic activities.

The FIM Africa Enduro event is one of many sports initiatives that the Bank will be sponsoring and happens annually for all African nations.

“It is wonderful when a sponsor like I&M Bank Ltd is different and sees the bigger picture, and comes out to support an initiative such as this. Tourism does not have to always be about the beach and the animals in Kenya. We have so much more to offer the world” noted Chris Wahome EAMSC Chairman
