I&M Bank Tanzania Deepens its Commitment to Sustainability and Financial Inclusion

I&M Bank Tanzania, in collaboration with Airtel Money, has launched a transformative Financial Literacy Program aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs across the country.
This Initiative is a key component of I&M Bank Tanzania’s broader Sustainability Strategy, which focusses on 3 key pillars: Financial inclusion, Financial Literacy for women and Environment Stewardship. The strategy is anchored on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—specifically SDG 5: Gender Equality and SDG 13: Climate Action.
During the inaugural training in Dar es Salaam, 50 women participated in hands-on sessions covering digital finance, business sustainability, and financial management — all aligned with SDG 5: Gender Equality and SDG 13: Climate Action.
This program reflects the broader vision of I&M Bank Group — to be Eastern Africa’s leading financial partner for growth, innovation, and sustainability. By investing in women and communities, we are building a future where finance is inclusive and development is equitable.
As part of our environmental commitment, we’ve pledged to plant one tree for every 100 women we lend to, with a target of 8,000 trees annually, Symbolizing our belief that economic empowerment and environmental stewardship must go hand in hand.
