Testimonials

Through this campaign, the bank seeks to empower SMEs with essential knowledge and tailored offerings through a recorded podcast series aired the I&M Bank Uganda You Tube Channel.

  • Joseph Kiyimba:
"Welcome to the Tukikube ne I&M Bank podcast. This podcast is dedicated to empowering SMEs with practical financial literacy tips to help them grow and succeed.

The first episode features Joseph Kiyimba, a respected thought leader and household name in Uganda’s SME ecosystem, known for his passion for entrepreneurship, mentorship, and community empowerment.

Kiyimba started off brewing local alcohol with his parents. He also sold clothes in village markets around Masaka and later started organising village discos; an experience that sparked his passion for entertainment, and laid the foundation for his business journey.

In 1994, he launched Lions Mobile Disco, which evolved into Club Ambiance in Masaka by 1996. The night club was the first state of the art discotheque in Masaka. He later expanded with branches in Kampala and Mityana.

From the discotheque, Ambiance evolved into a distillery- that manufactures Ambiance Waragi. Kiyimba is a household name in Uganda’s nightlife and entertainment industry.

In a bid to diversify, he later founded Ambiance Tree Farm, and a few years ago- in 2022, he started Metro Junior School Kitemu.

The school, supported with financing from I&M Bank, just like many of his other ventures, combines local and international curricula and serves more than 1,000 students.

Today, the Ambiance Group includes ventures in entertainment, alcohol production, forestry, and education, employing over 2,000 people and contributing significantly to community development.

In this podcast, Kiyimba shares his entrepreneurial journey, the evolution of his business empire, and the financial strategies that have fueled his success."

  • Peter Nduhira:
"Welcome to the Tukikube ne I&M Bank podcast, a space where we empower Uganda’s Small and Medium Enterprises with practical financial literacy tips to help them grow and succeed.

In this episode, we share the remarkable journey of a man who turned UGX 200,000 borrowed from a friend into one of Uganda’s most respected construction companies. Meet Nduhira Peter Arinaitwe, Managing Director of Challenger Uganda Ltd.

Before the multimillion-shilling contracts and high-profile clients like MTN Uganda, Vivo Energy, and UNHCR, Peter worked as a clearing agent. Inspired by a friend’s advice and driven by a deep passion for well-built structures, Peter made a bold decision: he quit his job.

After exhausting his savings, Peter turned once again to the same friend, borrowing UGX 200,000. With that small but significant amount, he registered Challenger Uganda Ltd in 2002.

Today, 22 years later, Challenger Uganda is behind major projects, including Shell Lugogo. Peter credits a large part of his growth to I&M Bank.

From contract financing to exceptional customer service, he says I&M Bank took time to understand the unique challenges of the construction industry where cash flow is everything and provided the timely support he needed to succeed."
