What We’ve Done – Education and Skills Development :

Kenya Wildlife Trust Conservation Leadership Programme (KES. 1,963,500)

Sponsorship of 15 needy, deserving scholars selected from the Greater Mara, Samburu-Laikipia and Amboseli-Tsavo areas to undertake a two-year conservation themed Diploma courses at the Wildlife Research Training Institute (WRTI) in Naivasha

Moringa School Software Development Program Scholarship

I&M Foundation sponsored 25 youths from informal settlements to be trained in an 8 months’ software development course in 2023 at Moringa School, a multi-disciplinary coding institution with intensive tech education programmes located in Nairobi, Kenya. The school offers unmatched technical and professional training enabling individuals to close the skill gap in Africa’s tech job market.

The Program combines practical projects, relevant technologies, and up to date course content to prepare students for the workforce. Students received training on employable skills and joined a graduate support group to help them find employment opportunities.

Amara Trust – Education Fund Program (KES. 12,074,810)

I&M Foundation partnered with the Amara Charitable Trust – Education Fund Program to sponsor 21 deserving students to transition to Technical and Vocational Education and Training centers after completing their secondary school education.

I&M Foundation also held mentorship sessions with the beneficiaries.

I&M and Palmhouse Foundations Joint Scholarship Fund (KES. 56,160,000)

I&M Bank through Palmhouse Foundation has offered secondary schools’ scholarships to bright and talented children from financially challenged backgrounds since 2005. Palmhouse Foundation’s mission is to provide scholarships for secondary education to bright and talented children from financially challenged families. Palmhouse Foundation also mentors these children through life to help them transform their own lives and in turn that of their families. The partnership has benefitted 234 students since inception.

I&M Bank and Foundation staff participated in an end-of-term mentorship session. The session entailed group mentorship sessions, and one-on-one personal interaction with the students.

Strathmore University Scholarship Fund (KES. 62,201,596)

I&M Bank and Strathmore University partnership on educational scholarships now spans over a decade. I&M Foundation partners with Strathmore University to provide scholarships to bright and financially challenged students to undertake various under-graduate programs.

I&M Foundation has also organised a scholars’ forum and peer-to-peer learning day focused on understanding the unique academic journeys of the scholars and exploring the best ways to support them as they approach graduation.

St. Ann Suresh Raja Girls’ High School (KES. 239,092,810)

St. Ann Suresh Raja Girls’ High School was established by I&M Foundation in 2018 in Kenya’s Kiambu County. The KES 215 million investment included purchase of the land, construction and equipping of the school where we also run a scholarship fund of KES. 8.4 million. Close to a third of the total student population comes from needy backgrounds and benefit from scholarships supported by I&M Foundation and other partners.

I&M Foundation facilitates a recurring mentorship and life skills programme at the school.
